MORE THAN A CENTURY OF STYLE IN NORWICH
We would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful ladies from the C&TA for creating such a wonderful exhibition. It was enjoyed by every person who visited.
In conjunction with the Heritage Open Days and the Costume and Textile Association (C&TA), we exhibited a stunning collection of Norwich Shawls, antique costume from the 1880's, needlework tools and sewing machines including the personal history of the items and their connection to Norwich. Enthusiastic members from the C&TA were available throughout the opening times of the exhibition to answer questions, discuss the history of textiles or just to have a chat, including Helen Hoyte MBE, author of 'The History of Norwich Shawls' (her times are yet to be confirmed).
For more information on the Costume and Textile Association, please visit their website
Heritage Open Days is the Country's largest heritage festival with around 5,000 events, over 40,000 volunteers and more than three million visitors taking part. Celebrating local history, architecture and culture, the four day event offers everyone the chance to see hidden places and experience something new - all of which are completely free to explore.
Heritage Open Days operates as part of the National Trust with funding from players of People's Postcard Lottery. Established in 1994, it is England's contribution to the European Heritage Days, which is held annually in September in 50 signatory states to the European Cultural Convention.
